Summary from the author:
A dangerous infatuation with a rough and ready man…
Erin Coffey has been a nurse for years, but nothing’s prepared her for the physical and emotional demands of her new position. Needing to move closer to her dysfunctional family, she takes a dangerous job at Larkhaven Psychiatric Hospital, where she quickly learns that she needs protection—and she meets the strong, over-confident coworker who’s more than willing to provide it.
Kelly Robak is the type of guy that Erin has sworn she’d never get involved with. She’s seen firsthand, via her mess of a sister, what chaos guys like him can bring into a woman’s life. But she finds herself drawn to him anyway, even when he shows up at her door, not eager to take no for an answer.
What Erin finds even more shocking than Kelly’s indecent proposal is how much she enjoys submitting to his every command. But he can’t play the tough guy indefinitely. If they want to have more than just an affair, both will have to open up and reveal what they truly need.
I was super excited when I learned about this book coming out. I have to say that I eventually really did like the book a lot. It was very slow for me in the beginning and I had a hard time getting engrossed in the story, of the mental hospital, where the two main characters meet. As expected Ms. McKenna did not disappoint when it came to her alpha male character Kelly Robak. He was gritty, brusk, controlling and down right hot and steamy. The very first sex scene in the book was probably one of the hottest non intercourse scenes I have ever read. It was totally unexpected which made it even better in my mind. As always Ms. KcKenna kept her characters realistic with plenty of physical, as well as, personal flaws. They were not super models but as always they are realistic people that a reader can relate to. I have to say that the book did leave me wanting for more as it came to an end. Ms. McKenna has a way of torturing us with her abrupt endings and no epilogues. This book was no different. I do recommend this book to anyone who loves their alpha male heroes and of course super hot, and controlling, sex scenes. Looking forward to what Ms. McKenna has in store for us in the future.
