Ashleigh Thomas might have made the biggest mistake of her life. Uprooting life as she knew it, moving back to Dallas to be closer to her family, she finds herself much closer to the one man who she had never been able to say no to. Attempting to hide the fact that she moonlights as an erotic romance author, she quickly finds herself in his arms and his bed – hoping he’ll fulfill some of those deep, dark desires she has always written about, but never experienced for herself.
Alex McDermott has spent the better part of a decade trying to convince himself to stay away from the alluring Ashleigh, but when she moves back home, he finds out that he’s no longer willing to resist the overwhelming desire she instills in him. But he’s got a secret too – one that might just push Ashleigh out of his life for good – something he’s not willing to let happen.
It doesn’t take long for the heat between them to ignite into a wildfire of lust, but can they stop hiding from each other and more importantly stop holding back?

Oh, Ashleigh what have you been hiding? A secret crush, a hot night from the past, a not so secret pen name, what’s underneath your children author facade or all of the above? Let’s not forget Alex who has a few skeletons in his own closest! Can they put aside their secrets and act on the attraction they have been fighting for years? I so enjoyed their ride, this was a little less scorching hot then I usually find her books! Nicole Edward’s book are usually so hot, take cold shower hot read, so I was a little disappointed in the lack of kink but that truth or dare game was pretty damn steamy, ya I’ll forgive her!! I’m pretty sure I’ll read that part over and over!! I was extremely happy to get their story, and get to know author Ashleigh Thomas, since we often hear about her. I can hardly believe I’m almost caught up with her series, on to the next book! Seriously, Don’t miss out on this series!!
And here is a series order from Goodreads!!

I get up from my bed and look at my reflection in the mirror. “Sophia Burns, you deserve to be happy. You deserve to smile. Sophia Burns, open your eyes and start living your life.” Wow that feels good to say out loud. I throw on a yellow hoodie and my black yoga pants. I look at myself in the mirror and promise myself that I’ll learn how to be happy. I put on my sneakers and head out of my room for a long walk so I can get things in perspective.

The worldwide phenomenon continues as Eva and Gideon face the demons of their pasts, and accept the consequences of their obsessive desires…
From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn’t resist. I saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside–so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat.
No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I’d been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.
Entwined by our secrets, we tried to defy the odds. We made our own rules and surrendered completely to the exquisite power of possession…
Just like most Crossfire fans I had been anxiously awaiting the third, and what I thought, was the final installment of the series. The delay in the publishing of this third book had left me a little irritated and to be honest I had forgotten some of the details from the previous books. I did not have time to reread the previous book with too many new release hitting this summer. I have to say I was not disappointed in the quality of the writing and the story. I was however disappointed that we are still left wondering about most of Gideon Cross’s secrets. Sylvia Day did not reveal enough in this third book and I am understanding why so many readers were really upset with her. I’m not sure there is enough of Ava and Gideon’s story left to warrant a fourth book. The sex scenes were of course top notch. Sylvia Day really knows how to write the best sexy love scenes out there. They are always tastefully done but very steamy. I know I will never be let down by her as far as that is concerned. The night club sex scene was one of my favorites in the book. Overall I think Sylvia Day did another fabulous job and the I was not disappointed when it came to the quality of the book. Again, my only disappointment is that this third book was not the final installment and we are still left wanting to know answers to questions from the beginning of the series. I also just realized that I am unsure when the fourth book is to be published. hoping we will not have to wait too long to finally get the answers we have been patiently waiting for. I have no problem highly recommend this book to all adult romance readers.
Favorite Quotes from the book:
Jack Stone is the Dark Master.
A tough man. A hard man – and he is sexy as all hell.
When Jack Stone arrives in the small town of Windswept, Arizona all he wants is answers. What he finds is a sexy woman with a lust for BDSM and a secret the locals will kill to keep.
Excerpt“Now, I’d suggest you two gentlemen apologize to the nice lady for your language, and then find another table and sit quietly until you finish your meals. Afterwards we can take this outside if you want to continue.”
The two men scrambled to their feet. The tall one had blood gushing from a broken nose where Stone had crunched his head down on the hard timber surface. His face was an ugly twisted mask of rage. He spat a mouthful of blood onto the diner floor and dragged the back of his hand across his mouth.
“Fuck you, boy!” the man hissed and stabbed a blood-covered finger at Stone. “I’m gonna rip you apart.”
Stone looked to the second guy, sizing him up. He was an inch shorter than the first man, but still a good size.
“Eat first,” Stone said calmly. “Because you won’t be able to afterwards. I guarantee you.” “Outside!” the first man said again. “Now!”
Stone shrugged. He turned and glanced at the waitress. “Thanks for lunch,” he said. The woman was on the telephone, speaking urgently into the mouthpiece, and Stone paused a moment longer to asked her calmly, “Are the cops on their way?”
The woman looked up from the phone and nodded. Her hands were trembling and her face was pale and frightened. “Good. Tell them to bring the paramedics,” Stone said.
And then he smiled.

Cute story, I found the beginning to be a little slow. I thought the story was sweet and realistic. With 4 point of view a lot was going on, point of views were welled label and easy to follow. I never felt overwhelmed or confused, but I was disappointed that we got so much of Ari and Jeff but then was left with a cliffhanger. Another book to read, I just wish it got a little more or a peak into the next book. It seems like we could had it all wrapped in a few more chapters.I adore Gunner, so glad he wasn’t a player and had no games!! Ellie was a broken girl and very insecure. Of course they will have a bump ride, discovering their sweet love for each other! I did feel as though Ari and Jeff drama stole the show a little! Cute first love story, and how you can move past a rough childhood. I think this is a wonderful story but leans more to young adult genre!
Growing up in small town Wisconsin, Carly Turner couldn’t wait to escape when she graduated high school. Now, she’s living the life in New York City, even if she isn’t seeing her name in lights like she used to dream about at night. She’s living paycheck-to-paycheck, working behind the scenes in small theaters off Broadway. When there’s an equipment malfunction the week before opening night, Carly makes a call that winds up changing everything.
Life in the city isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. While she feels like she’s getting closer to making the move from behind the scenes to center stage, she misses being surrounded by people who understand the quirks that come from living in a town of five thousand people. That, and the fact that he’s sexy as sin, make Adam everything she feels like she’s missing.
The only problem? He’s her best friend’s kid brother…
Adam Sanders wants to settle down, find a good woman and start a family like he sees so many of his friends doing. But how is he supposed to meet Ms. Right when he’s constantly on the road for work? When he’s sent to New York to handle a repair that would typically be contracted out as a favor to his boss, he’s just about to his breaking point.
Everything changes when the stagehand sent to open the theater for him is none other than his big sister’s childhood friend. The same girl he lusted after as a teenager. Could this be fate’s way of showing him that he was looking in the wrong place for love?
As Adam and Carly’s friendship develops, lines will be crossed and rules will be broken. Will they be able to come out the other side without destroying everything they had back in Brooklyn?
The beer stand wasn’t as busy as he’d expected it to be, so he took the opportunity to spend a little private time with his girl. He pulled her through the entrance gate and they walked down Main Street.
“Come here,” Adam whispered, leading Carly between two buildings. “I’ve been dying to do this all day.”
Adam rested his hands on the wall to either side of Carly’s head. Their lips crashed together as Adam urgently kissed her. This kiss was completely different from anything they’d shared previously. There was desperation and need that wasn’t normally present. His teeth grazed across her lower lip pulling them closer together.
He moaned when Carly’s delicate hands began tugging the hem of his t-shirt from his jeans. Her hands felt like fire running up the length of his back. Adam leaned closer to her, needing to feel his body against hers. “Damn, you have to go to my house tonight,” he groaned breathlessly. He broke away from Carly and reached into his pocket. “Take my keys. As soon as we can get away, you go check on Gran, and then go to my place. I’ll text you the address.”
Adam’s skin felt cold in the humid night as soon as Carly removed her hands from under his shirt. The second to the last thing he wanted was to put a halt on their mutual exploration. The only thing he wanted less was to take Carly in a dark alley. He pulled Carly in for one last kiss before turning her back towards Main Street and leading her back to the dance. They walked to the end of the alley with Carly under the crook of Adam’s arm just as they did so many nights in New York.
By some miracle, there was still no line at the beer booth when Adam and Carly made their way back into the fenced-off area of the street. They took a few seconds to straighten and tuck their shirts in before grabbing the next round of beers and heading back to their friends.
All hell was starting to break loose about the time Adam found their table. “You and Adam are crawling up my ass trying to take care of me. I camehere tonight to have a relaxing time, and that is just not possible when I have you two walking around like my personal bodyguards.” Julia was doing a poor job of trying to keep her voice quiet enough to avoid creating a scene. Everyone at thesurrounding tables had turned to watch her lay into Micah. Adam couldn’t blame her for feeling suffocated. She hadn’t been allowed to go anywhere on her own for nearly twenty-four hours, and that’s not something she was used to. At the same time, they’d tried to talk Julia out of coming at all since it wasn’t safe for herto be alone with Karen walking the streets and obviously holding a grudge. “Now, if you don’t mind, I’m going to get Annie and Carly, and we’re going to dance. Without the two of you,” she demanded, looking at both of the men in her life.
Carly and Annie trailed behind Julia trying to keep up with her near running pace towards the dance floor. Adam couldn’t wait to hear what Carly had to say about this latest debacle when he got home tonight.
“What the hell was that all about?” Adam asked, handing Micah one of the plastic cups.
“Hell if I know,” Micah paused to empty half the glass in one swallow. “She was fine, and then she just snapped. I mean, I know she hates having us hovering, but we told her it was going to be that way. If she’d have just let us stay–”
“Damn, man. You’ve know my sister for how long?” Adam asked, shaking his head. “She’s one of the most independent broads out there, and now we’re stuck to her ass like glue. I’d be pissed too.”
“Speaking of stuck like glue, where’d you and Turner disappear to?”
Adam felt his cheeks flush remembering how heated their little walk had been and how much further it could have gone if he hadn’t pulled the brakes. “Just a little walk. It’s not easy being together but not, you know?”
Micah shook his head, staring into his beer for a long moment. “I don’t see why you’re not openly together. It’s ridiculous, man.”
“We didn’t want to add any stress for Julia. I don’t think she’d mind, but Carly’s convinced she’ll have a conniption when she finds out.” Adam was grateful there was at least one person he could talk to about the entire confusing situation. “We had a huge fight the last time I was in New York, to the point I was pretty sure we were done. All because I agree with you, it’s fucking bullshit that I can’t let everyone know she’s the reason I’m happy lately.”
“Dude, you sound like a girl,” Micah laughed. “I don’t think Julia will freak out. I think the only way there will be an issue is if you hurt Carly and put your sister in a place where she has to choose one over the other. So do yourself a favor…don’t fuck this up.”
“Don’t plan to. But she might very well put me in the asylum before this is all done. You know how much it sucks to not be able to touch the girl you’re fucking crazy about.” Adam emptied his cup and tossed it into the nearby barrel. “Actually, if you’re screwing my sister again, I don’t want an answer to that.”
Micah laughed. “I’ll spare you the details, but yeah, I guess I can understand a little of what you’re feeling. Come on; let’s see if we can get these girls out of here. I’m assuming you and Carly are taking off to your place?”
“She’s gonna head out there. I’m going to help you make sure that Julia’s cool, then I’ll head home.” Adam grabbed Micah, giving him a brotherly hug. “Thanks, man. And I’m warning you now; if you hurt Jules again, I will find you, and it’s not going to be pleasant. I’ll put you through as much physical pain as you put her through emotionally.”
Micah thumped Adam’s back. “No plans on doing that twice. No worries.”
